Duo doctor's appointment

I was actually planning on taking a picture for this blog entry but I forgot to take the camera with me to the doctor's office. Talen and Kendal had their Doctor's appointment together this past week for Kendal's 6 month check-up and Talen's 2 year check-up. Kendal is doing beautifully - she weighs about 17 pounds, and she's in the 75th percentile for he weight, 50th for her height and 25th for he head. She sits up and rolls over and goo goo's and gah gah's and she's now eating 2 meals of solids a day. She is an amazing baby and only cries when she's tired or hungry (which is how it's been her whole life). She's so easy going and so pleasant. Talen is doing pretty well. He's in the 90th percentile for his height and weight (35 lbs) and his head is also in the 25th percentile. They said that he talks really well and that everything looks normal. The only concern about Talen was that he still has his heart murmur. We're going to another doctor to get it checked out to find out what kind of murmur it is and if there is any need to be concerned. I guess like 50 percent of the population has a heart murmur and they are pretty common so we're not too worried about it - but we'll see what happens afte the doctor visit. I wanted to take a picture so bad of them at their doctor's appointment together with my pediatrican - and i'm still beating myself about not bringing the camera - but that's life I guess.

My Baby Turned Two

Virginia Beach (June 9, 2008)

Virginia Beach June 9th 2008 with the Nehring Family

We went to the Beach for the day with our good frinds the Nehrings and it was a total blast. Much better than our last trip to the beach. This beach had hardly any biting flies, which really made all the difference. Talen finally discovered sand, I got to just sit and relax and do absolutely nothing. Kendal got to play in the water, eat sand and listen to the wind, waves and airplanes fly overhead, and Jared got to body board all day long. He totally loved it and I'm so glad he did. It was truly an awesome day.

This is something only grandparents could love. Talen loves to act like daddy and read magazines while attempting the impossibe: going potty

So my mom's been begging me and begging me to put Kendal in this dress and take a picture because it was once my dress - so even though it's a 0-3 months size and Kendal is now 6 months - I finally did it mom - she looks a little ridiculous but i did it.

I think we'll keep her!

First Landing State Park

We went camping a few weeks ago. Camping in Virginia is like going to church in Las Vegas, a total waste of time. I never knew that biter flies even existed until we went to First Landing - flies everywhere, they pretty much ruined our trip. There were parts that were fun but we're never going back. Don't be fooled by the pictures - the smiles are posed.

Memorial Day

Summer in Virginia came quick. It seemed like overnight the temperature went from a comfortable 75 degrees to an unforgiving 101 degrees. Having the pool open was a much needed luxery for us. The last time Talen had been the water was when he was about 12 months old - so swimming for the first time this season felt like starting over. We bought him these water wings and they have seemed to help. We can now let him go in the deep end with the water wings on and he'll float and keep his head above water and try to swim - he doesn't really have a clue what he's doing but at least he floats right? If you think it looks like Talen's lips might be blue in this photo it's because they are. The water was actually pretty cold and Talen's little body couldn't quite get used to it - needless to say he still had fun.

Daddy loves to do all sorts of acrobatic stunts with Talen - it's fun to see Talen's facial expressions as he gains the courage to meet the demands daddy puts on him. We even had a little audience that day at the pool and female on lookers were oohing and ahhing over these two studs.

Kendal also loves to play in the pool. Her favorite thing to do is sit in her floaty toy and ... suck on it. She also likes to be spun around. Kendal is such a good girl. She really doesn't fuss much about anything. She's very easy going unless she has a toy that's been taken away or dropped - when this happens she unleashes evil Kendal and it's difficult to calm her down. Anyway, I think she loves the water - she always kicks her legs in it and squeals and smiles at everyone around her. We love having a pool that's a 5 minute walk from our front door - it's probably the best thing about living at our apartment complex.

I just loved this picture of her - she's my happy pretty sweetie.
